Rick Puckett's mission, passion, and purpose are to help organizations eliminate workplace injuries. For more than twenty-five years, he has impacted thousands of people worldwide, driving initiatives that reduce the severity and frequency of workplace injuries and illnesses.
Early in his career, Rick witnessed a severe workplace injury event firsthand. The race to save the young man’s life, the grief and horror felt by employees, and the lasting impact on the employee’s family left an indelible mark on Rick. This event inspired his lifelong commitment to workplace safety.
Rick earned a BPS in Organizational Behavior from the University of Memphis and an MS in OSHA Management from the University of Findlay. He also achieved Board certification (CSP) in 2008.
Rick has held successful roles in OSHA compliance, site management, global sourcing, and leadership positions at companies like International Paper, Owens Corning, and Ford Motor Company. His extensive experience, both domestically and globally, has given him a broad perspective on workplace safety, but his focus has always remained on caring for people and insisting on the highest safety standards.
The key lessons Rick learned throughout his career are:
- No one gets hurt on purpose.
- Most injured employees get hurt doing regular, routine job tasks.
- Leaders set the tone for how work gets done – not the employees.
Rick is passionate about helping organizations improve employee engagement, reduce the risk of workplace injuries, and coach leaders on influencing safety culture. The impact he sees on people, leaders, and organizations is immensely rewarding.
After many years of working globally, Rick returned to Arkansas to be near family and start his own consulting company. Puckett Consulting Services brings proven, data-driven techniques to organizations, meeting them "where they are" on their journey to workplace safety.
Rick and his wife have three sons, two daughters, and four grandchildren. They reside in Northwest Arkansas and are actively involved in the local community.
